Professor Remigio Joseph A. De Ungria Jr., ChE, ME, MBA, CDM is the Managing Director of W+B Energy, a Strategic Business Unit of Wong and Bernstein, a leading Strategy Advisory Firm in Asia. He is also the President of his own consultancy group, DURES Hyper Asia Pacific, that serves international and local clients.

Prof. De Ungria, or VCoach Bong as his more than 2,000 past students remember him, has a successful track record in the executive positions he has held with top 1,000 Philippine companies such as Chief Operating Officer of Moldex Products (manufacturing), Senior Vice President of Citistores (retail) , Country Marketing Manager of Philips Electronics and Lighting (distribution) and AVP of Waltermart Supermarkets and Community Malls.

His unique competencies in igniting and coaching corporate and individual transformations has been tested, refined and sharpened during his almost 3 decades of simultaneous engagement with industry (by day) and academe (at night as Professor of the Ateneo de Manila University since 1994). He has relevant, hands-on experience as a professional manager, as a street-smart entrepreneur and head of his own company, and as a management consultant.

VCoach Bong is a lifelong learner and sought after educator. After completing his Chemical and Mechanical Engineering degrees from UP in 1986 and 1988 respectively, he completed his MBA degree from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business in 1994, his Marketing Communications degree from DLSU in 2002 and his Certified Digital Marketing degree from IMMAP- Ateneo in 2011. He has also been sent by his companies to international trainings in the US, Mexico, Singapore, Indonesia and to specialized AIM programs on management development and marketing. He has taught at the Ateneo Department of Management (Loyola), Ateneo Graduate School of Business (Makati, Cebu, Sta Rosa, Lipa), Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (Pasig), Ateneo Center for Continuing Education (Makati), De La Salle University (Taft), Development Academy of the Philippines (Pasig) and Carthage College (USA).

After earning his professional board licenses as a Chemical and Mechanical Engineer, he started his professional career as the only Technical Management Trainee selected in 1988 by Unilever Philippines . He has been directly responsible for the technical operations of an Oil Refinery, a Sulphonation Plant, a Ready Mixed Concrete Batching Plant and a PVC and PE Pipes Factory . He has also directed and supported the store operations of retail establishments from Luzon to Mindanao.

Because of his unique blend of technical, marketing and communication skills, Prof. De Ungria has been frequently selected as the company representative to various mission-critical legal, regulatory and industry activities particularly during major industry upheavals just like those which he directly participated in 7 industries: real estate, retail petroleum, oleochemical, cement, lighting, pipes and retail electricity markets.
