Featured Hero Graduate of the Month: Shannen Keisha L. Tan, MBA

…….As we celebrate women and their contribution to society this month of March, it will be the best time for the Ateneo GSB to showcase the addition of a rising woman to the roster of Hero Graduates, Shannen Keisha L. Tan, MBA, our featured Hero Graduate of the month.

Shannen’s mantra is “you cannot give what you do not have”. Thus, having integrity, humility and genuine care for others are the Atenean values she continues to keep in her mind as a leader, educator and woman for others. By her own means, she is creating projects to help her community. Some of these projects are initiating partnerships with other organizations to provide basic goods in time of need and providing training and seminars to upskill members of the community coming from different sectors like the youth and women, facilitating these trainings to inspire and encourage participants to become entrepreneurs.

Shannen is currently the President of the Mezzo Hotel in Cebu City and also the Director in Charge for the CSR Community at the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants- Cebu Chapter where she helped organize monthly activities such as outreach programs to children with special needs, Brigada Eskwela activities, environmental clean-up and tree planting, and free training for non- accountants.

When asked on how she exemplifies and instill the Ateneo values in her activities, this is what she has to say:

  1. What about your Ateneo education do you value the most?

The Ignatian values being imbibed in the Ateneo education is of most value to me especially because it is instrumental in shaping my moral compass and becoming the leader I am today: making conscious decisions that will ultimately contribute to the triple bottom line (people, planet, prosperity).

  1. Please enumerate how you exemplify being a Hero Graduate during the New Normal

Meaningful engagement with the community (Men and Women for and with Others). We are successful if the community we are in grows with us. By partnering with different organizations and community stakeholders, we create a stronger positive impact.

  1. Aside from those stated above, please state how have you been helping the community by your own means:

My advocacy is leaned towards education, which is why at a personal capacity, I am sponsoring a student’s education, I give out reading materials to selected members of the community, and as much as my schedule permits, I positively respond to invitations to impart knowledge to students from different institutions on different subject matters. Teaching part-time is also a way of giving back in my own little way.

Ateneo GSB is committed to fostering a community of leaders for others grounded on the principles of Cura Personalis, Magis, and passionate in their belief in the interdependence of integrity, service, and expertise just like Shannen.
