The following is an excerpt from the memorandum of the University President, Fr. Jose Ramon T. Villarin, S.J. dated February 20, 2013 appointing Mr. Agtarap to the post of Registrar of the Ateneo Professional Schools
“I wish to inform the University that I have appointed Mr Joaquin Julian B Agtarap (JJ) as Ateneo Professional Schools Registrar, concurrent with his post as Loyola Schools Registrar, effective 1 April 2013.
Mr Agtarap joined the Ateneo de Manila University as Loyola Schools Registrar in April 2001. He has been responsible for key improvements in the Registrar’s Office, implementing the Internet and “One-Stop-Shop” intranet enrollment for all college and graduate students of the Loyola Schools, and streamlining systems and processes digitizing the data base resulting in more efficient service and shorter transaction times. As lecturer in the School of Management and School of Social Sciences (Education Department), he shares his knowledge on the fundamentals of management and registrarship. He pioneered the “Diploma in Registrarship,” the first program of its kind in the Philippines that provides professional training to Registrars and their staff in various schools nationwide.
Prior to working at the Ateneo, JJ was a bank manager from 1996 to 2001, with stints at Citytrust Banking Corporation, Far East Bank and Trust Company and ending with Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation.
Mr Agtarap is no stranger to the Professional Schools, having completed his MBA (silver medalist) in 2000. He graduated from the Ateneo de Manila with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 1990 as a Procter and Gamble scholar.”
